Tip of the month
January
Lawns ~ Keep off the grass if it is frozen or soaking wet Roses ~ Now is a good time to prune your roses whilst we are in the dormant season. Avoid pruning in the frost as this could damage the bud ~ Cut dead branches back to the base of the rose ~ Shorten long branches by half (personally I look at 3rd bud to outfacing) Pruning ~ Prune friut trees and bushes Timber structures ~ Inspect fences, pergolas, and other garden structures for damage and untreated areas. Wood that is in contact with the ground e.g. fence posts, gravel boards, are most likely to rot ~ Make repairs while the plants have died back and structures are more easily accessible
